PEEK (Polyetheretherketone) rod is a high-performance, food-safe material with excellent chemical, dielectric, and radiation resistance. Fire-rated and self-extinguishing, it's ideal for demanding applications. Available in a beige finish.
Why Choose PEEK?
PEEK offers exceptional performance in extreme conditions, with a wide temperature range (-50°C to +250°C), high mechanical strength, and excellent chemical, radiation, and creep resistance. It’s food-safe, fire-resistant, and ideal for replacing stainless steel in high-stress applications
Key features and benefits
- Outstanding temperature range: Performs reliably from -40°C to +250°C.
- Excellent creep resistance: Maintains shape and strength under constant stress.
- High mechanical strength: Ideal for high-load and high-stress applications.
- Very high dimensional stability: Holds tight tolerances during machining and use.
- Fire rating: Self-extinguishing with low flammability.
- Food contact approved: Safe for use in food processing environments.
- Excellent chemical resistance: Withstands harsh chemicals and solvents.
- Radiation resistant: Resists Gamma and X-ray exposure without degradation.
- Replaces stainless steel: Suitable for dry running parts where metal isn't ideal.
- Thermally stable: Remains stable and reliable at elevated temperatures.
Typical Applications
- Bearings, Seals & O-Rings: Ideal for components that require low friction, wear resistance, and long-term durability under high loads.
- Pump, Compressor & Piston Parts: Excellent for use in demanding mechanical systems where heat and pressure are factors.
- Vales: Reliable in chemical, steam, and high-pressure systems due to PEEK’s stability and sealing properties.
- Aerospace: Used in structural and non-structural components for its lightweight strength and flame resistance.
- Medical Devices: Biocompatible and sterilisation-resistant, suitable for surgical tools and implants.
- Automotive: Trusted for under-the-hood components that must endure heat, friction, and chemicals.
- Oil & Gas Industry: Performs in extreme conditions, including high temperatures and corrosive environments.
Manufacturing Process - Extrusion
PEEK rods are produced through a high-temperature extrusion process, where PEEK resin is melted and forced through a precision round die to form a continuous cylindrical rod. Due to PEEK’s high melting point, this process requires specialised equipment to maintain stability and quality. The rods are then cooled and cut to length. This method ensures:
- Exceptional dimensional accuracy
- Uniform density and surface finish
- High mechanical and thermal performance
This process results in a high-performance engineering plastic with outstanding strength, chemical resistance, and heat stability—ideal for precision components in aerospace, medical, automotive, and industrial applications.
Cut to Size Bespoke Fabrication Services
Our cut to size service allows you to purchase PEEK rods in the exact dimensions you need, without having to buy full, manufactured diammeters. We don’t charge for cutting standard shapes and sizes listed on our website.
For more customised projects, we also offer bespoke fabrication services, including:
- CNC Laser Cutting – For precise and intricate designs.
- CNC Routing – Ideal for complex shapes and large-scale projects.
- Engraving – Perfect for personalised or technical detailing.
- Additional options – Such as drilled holes, rounded corners, and edge polishing for a professional finish.
Sustainability and Recycling
PEEK rod is fully recyclable through specialised processes, contributing to sustainability efforts. Its durability and long lifespan reduce the need for frequent replacements, making it an eco-friendly choice for industrial applications and reducing overall environmental impact

Orders that exceed the weight allowance for their band are charged €1 per additional kg.
Delivery times
Delivery takes 5–7 working days.
Customs, import taxes and VAT
Our checkout meets EU customs and import requirements in full, so there are no surprises once your order ships. At checkout, you can choose how import taxes and duties are handled:
- Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) — we collect and pay all import taxes and duties on your behalf. Your order arrives at your door with nothing more to pay.
- Delivered At Place (DAP) — available to businesses with an EORI number. You act as the importer of record and settle any import VAT and duties directly.
Can I collect my order from Simply Plastics?
Yes, of course. Orders can be collected from our premises in Colchester, Essex. At the final stage of the checkout process there is a delivery option labelled "Collection/pickup" which is free. Once your order is complete, you will be notified by email along with our address and collection times.
I need my order urgently, can I pay for faster shipping?
Yes. We offer an express delivery service which aims to deliver all orders in 1-3 working days. Orders are delivered by a recognised courier company and may require a signature on delivery.
Do you have a minimum order charge or small order fee?
This is a question we are asked fairly regularly due to the previlance of either a minimum order charge or small order fee within the industry.
At Simply Plastics our approach has always been to treat all orders equally, small or large. We want all customers, new and existing, to be able to place orders with us confident that they are only paying for the products and materials that they require. We therefore do not have a minimum order charge or small order fee.
Is PEEK the best plastic to use in high temperatures?
In our Engineering Plastics range, PEEK has the highest temperature tolerance of 250°C.
Is PEEK stronger than metal?
PEEK can be stronger than some metals, especially when it comes to strength-to-weight ratio. Its high performance qualities allows PEEK to replace metals in engineering components.
Is PEEK waterproof?
Yes, PEEK is waterproof and has low water absorption, even in high humidity environments.
Is PEEK easy or difficult to bond?
PEEK is generally difficult to bond, and special adhesives or methods need to be used.
Why is PEEK so expensive?
Compared to other plastics, PEEK has a premium price because of its advance properties being a high-performance, speciality plastic, its high demand and it uses expensive raw materials in its complex and high temperature manufacturing process.
