Detailed description

Hard wearing

Cast acrylic i sone of the hardest thermoplastic sheet materials available and its attractive aesthetics remain for longer than other plastic sheet materials.

Light weight

Frosted clear acrylic weighs half as much as an equivalent piece of glass making fabrication, trasnport and fabrication a far more attractive proposition.

Matte finish

Clear acrylic frost has a matte finish on both faces of the material. The frosted finsih is slightly textured which is comparable to a sandblasted surface.

Weather resistant

With excelent resistance to the elements, frosted cast acrylic performs very well outside against the elemsnts. No significant chanages in appearance are expected over 10 years.

Recyclable

Frosted cast acrylic can be recycled all the way back to its raw material when it can be sued to prodcue other products.

Next Day Delivery

Next Day delivery is not available via our website due to the quantity and bespoke nature of orders we receive on a daily basis. However, if you need to place an order and require Next Day delivery please contact us – we will make every effort to meet your requirements and deadlines.

Remote Areas

In these rare circumstances the customer will be contacted first to discuss alternative options.

When delivering to some delivery locations we can incur increased shipping costs, if this is likely to happen the customer will be contacted to discuss any possible extra delivery charges required.

Examples of delivery locations which may require additional delivery charges are,

  • Channel Islands
  • Scottish Islands
  • Isle of Man
  • Isles of Scilly
  • Remote areas
  • Northern Ireland

If you require delivery to one of these areas please get in touch to discuss your order.

Can I collect my order from Simply Plastics?

Yes, of course. Orders can be collected from our premises in Colchester, Essex. At the final stage of the checkout process there is a delivery option labelled "Collection/pickup" which is free. Once your order is complete, you will be notified by email along with our address and collection times.

I need my order urgently, can I pay for faster shipping?

Yes. We offer an express delivery service which aims to deliver all orders in 1-3 working days. Orders are delivered by a recognised courier company and may require a signature on delivery.

What are polished edges?

When we cut an acrylic sheet to size, the saw blade/router toolbit produces a matte finish on the edges of the panel. We use a technique called diamond polishing to polish the edges to a bright, smooth and glossy finish.

Our diamond edge-polishing machine polishes the edge of acrylic by running a rotating, diamond tipped wheel along the edge of the material.

You can read more about the techniques used to polish Perspex® in our blog post, The Ultimate Guide to Polishing Perspex®.

Is acrylic suitable for laser cutting and engraving?
Acrylic is an extremely versatile material which provides great results when being laser cut or laser engraved. Both extruded and cast acrylic can be laser cut, however extruded acrylic can be left with a slight burr on the edge of the material after laser cutting whereas cast acrylic is left with an extremely smooth edge. Depending on the power of the laser tube it is possible to cut acrylic up to a thickness of 25mm whilst maintaining a square edge. Clear cast acrylic is normally favoured when producing awards and plaques because once engraved it turns a frosty white colour which creates a stunning finish. Certain colours do not react very well when laser cut because the pigment or dye in the acrylic reacts poorly to heat, however the edge discolouration can normally be reduced by modifying settings on the laser such as the cutting speed, the volume of air flow and the amount of power being used.
How should I clean acrylic sheet?

Acrylic should not be cleaned using chemical cleaners because they can cause damage to the acrylic. We recommend cleaning acrylic sheet with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. There are various acrylic cleaners and polishers available which we can provide that keep acrylic looking like brand new.
