Our White Budget PVC wall cladding delivers a bright, hard-wearing, wipe-clean wall surface at a lower cost than solid hygienic sheet. The satin finish diffuses light rather than reflecting it, giving walls a clean, professional appearance without the glare of gloss, while the smooth non-porous surface wipes down easily and resists moisture and everyday chemicals.

Unlike our solid PVC hygienic sheets, this budget panel uses a co-extruded construction — a lightweight PVC foam core bonded to a 0.6mm solid PVC surface layer. This keeps the sheet strong, smooth and easy to clean while cutting weight and cost. The result is a panel well suited to garages, workshops, storage areas, utility rooms and light commercial refurbishments, where durable wall protection matters more than certified hygiene performance.

Key Features

  • Cost-Effective: Considerably cheaper than solid PVC hygienic sheet, making it well suited to larger areas and tighter budgets.
  • Lightweight: At 1.75kg/m² the co-extruded sheet is roughly half the weight of an equivalent solid 2.5mm panel, making it easier to handle and quicker to fit.
  • Waterproof: PVC will not absorb water, so walls stay protected in damp and wash-down areas.
  • Easy to Clean: The smooth, non-porous satin surface wipes clean and gives mould and bacteria nowhere to take hold.
  • Chemical Resistant: Stands up to routine cleaning products and general workshop chemicals.
  • Fire Performance: Achieves Class 1 surface spread of flame to BS 476 Part 7.
  • Covers Poor Walls: Large sheets hide brick, blockwork and damaged plaster without replastering or tiling.
  • Quick to Install: Bonds directly to sound walls with the same adhesives, trims and profiles as the rest of our cladding range.

Typical Applications

  • Garages & Workshops: A durable, low-maintenance surface that covers brick and blockwork and wipes clean of oil, dust and general grime.
  • Storage Areas: Protects walls from knocks and trolley damage while staying easy to keep clean.
  • Utility Rooms: Handles moisture, mud and everyday wear better than painted plaster.
  • Back-of-House in Takeaways & Bakeries: Wipe-clean wall protection for corridors, prep-adjacent and storage areas. Note that this sheet holds no food-contact certification — for food preparation areas, specify our Brilliant White (Satin Finish) PVC Wall Cladding, which is certified to EU 10/2011.
  • Changing Rooms & Gyms: Bright, waterproof walls in high-traffic areas.
  • Schools: Hard-wearing wall protection for corridors, storerooms and practical teaching spaces.
  • Sheds, Garden Rooms & Outbuildings: Used internally, it turns a rough interior into a bright, clean, easily maintained space.
  • Rental & Short-Term Refurbishments: Fast to fit and inexpensive to replace, making it a practical choice for landlords and temporary installations.

Choosing Between Budget and Solid Hygienic Cladding

Budget cladding is the right choice where you need durable, waterproof, wipe-clean walls at the lowest sensible cost. Because the core is foam rather than solid PVC, impact strength is medium rather than high, and the sheet is not food-contact certified and does not achieve Class 0.

Where the specification calls for maximum durability, Class 0 fire performance or EU 10/2011 food-contact compliance — hospitals, dental surgeries, commercial kitchens, food processing — our solid Brilliant White (Satin Finish) PVC Wall Cladding is the correct product.

Recyclable

PVC is 100% recyclable and can be reprocessed and reused repeatedly.

Installation

  1. Preparation: Measure to determine how many cladding sheets you need. Clean and dry the wall surface.
  2. Cutting: Cut the PVC cladding sheets to size using a fine-tooth saw or utility knife.
  3. Adhesive Application: Apply adhesive to the back of the sheet using a notched trowel.
  4. Panel Installation: Press the sheet onto the wall, starting from one corner. Use a spirit level to check alignment. Working time is approximately 40 minutes.
  5. Finishing: Seal edges and joints with silicone sealant and apply PVC trim where required. Clean the surface with a damp cloth.

What is hygienic cladding?

Hygienic cladding refers to a sanitary PVC material that can be added to walls or ceilings designed to provide a clean, durable, and easy-to-maintain surface. The smooth, non-porous surface is resistant to chemicals, dirt and moisture reducing the risk of contamination. Hygienic cladding is commonly used in environments that require strict hygiene standards, such as hospitals, dentists, commercial kitchens, food processing plants, laboratories, and cleanrooms.

What adhesive should I use for PVC cladding?

When installing PVC cladding, it's essential to choose the right adhesive to ensure a secure and durable application. We have a wide range of hygienic cladding adhesives available on our website that are specifically designed to bond PVC materials effectively and provide a strong hold. The main adhesives used for installation are Premierbond 2 Part Adhesive and Premierbond HT Hybrid MS Polymer Adhesive.

How do I cut hygienic wall cladding?

Cutting hygienic wall cladding requires precision to ensure a clean and professional finish. Tools required include a measuring tape, marker or pencil, straight edge or ruler, utility knife or jigsaw, clamp and sandpaper.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to cut cladding effectively:

Measure and Mark

  • Measure the area where the cladding will be installed.
  • Mark the cutting lines on the hygienic cladding sheet using a marker or pencil. Use a straight edge to ensure the lines are straight.

Secure the Cladding

  • Place the PVC cladding on a stable work surface.
  • Use clamps to secure it in place to prevent it from moving during cutting.

Cutting

  • Using a Utility Knife: Score along the marked line with a utility knife. Make several passes with increasing pressure until you can snap the cladding along the score line.
  • Using a Jigsaw: If using a jigsaw, choose a fine-toothed blade to minimise chipping. Follow the marked line carefully, keeping the jigsaw steady and moving at a moderate speed.

Smooth the Edges

  • After cutting, use sandpaper to smooth any rough edges. This will ensure a neat finish and prevent any sharp edges that could cause injury.

Check the Fit

  • Place the cut piece in its intended location to ensure it fits properly. Make any necessary adjustments by trimming or sanding further.

For more detailed instructions please see our installation guide.

Can hygienic cladding be used outside?

No, hygienic cladding is not recommended for external use. While hygienic cladding is highly effective for wet indoor environments, it is not designed to withstand the challenges presented by outdoor conditions.

PVC cladding lacks sufficient UV resistance and prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause the material to degrade, discolour, and lose its structural integrity. The outdoor environment can significantly shorten the lifespan of hygienic cladding as the material’s properties are optimised for indoor use, ensuring durability and hygiene in controlled environments but not in unpredictable external conditions such as wind, snow and frost.

For exterior applications, it is advisable to use materials specifically designed to handle outdoor conditions, such as weather-resistant panels, composite cladding, or materials with built-in UV protection.

Can PVC cladding be painted?

Yes, PVC cladding can be painted, but there are specific considerations and steps you must follow to ensure a successful and durable finish, such as cleaning and priming before paint is applied. Painting can be useful for matching interior design schemes or refreshing the appearance of the cladding, however painted PVC cladding may not be as durable as its original finish, especially in high-traffic or heavily cleaned areas.

Can PVC cladding go over tiles?

Yes, hygienic PVC cladding can be installed over existing tiles, provided that the tiles are securely fixed and the surface is properly prepared. This method is often used to save time and labour, as it eliminates the need for removing old tiles.

Is hygienic cladding cheaper than tiles?

Hygienic cladding is made from PVC which is significantly less expensive to buy than ceramic or porcelain tiles. The large sheet size of hygienic cladding means less individual pieces are required per project which also lowers the overall spend. Installation of hygienic cladding is much quicker and less labor-intensive compared to tiles and is much easier to clean, reducing installation and maintenance costs.

Can you drill into PVC cladding?

Yes, you can drill into PVC hygienic cladding making it a flexible option for various applications, but there are some considerations and best practices to ensure a clean job:

Choose the Right Drill Bit

Use a drill bit specifically designed for plastic or PVC. A standard twist drill bit can work, but a bit designed for plastics may provide cleaner holes.

Use a Pilot Hole

Start with a smaller pilot hole to guide the larger drill bit. This helps prevent the PVC from cracking or splitting.

Drill at a Low Speed

Drill at a slower speed to minimise heat buildup, which can cause the PVC to deform or melt.

Support the Cladding

Ensure the cladding is well-supported to prevent movement, which could lead to uneven drilling or damage.

Avoid Over-Tightening

When using screws or fixtures, be careful not to over-tighten them, as this can cause stress and potential cracking in the cladding.

Test on a Scrap Piece

If possible, test your drilling technique on a scrap piece of PVC cladding to adjust your approach if needed.

Clean the Area

After drilling, clean up any plastic shavings or debris from the area to ensure a neat finish and proper installation of any fittings.

Is PVC cladding waterproof?

Yes, PVC cladding is waterproof. This makes it an ideal material for environments that require moisture resistance and easy maintenance, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and commercial spaces. PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is inherently resistant to water, which prevents moisture from penetrating the surface and the smooth, non-porous surface ensures that water and moisture cannot seep through. To ensure a completely waterproof installation, it is important to properly seal the joints and edges of the cladding panels with silicone sealant and appropriate trim.

How do I clean PVC cladding?
